BBQ Pizzas

Yesterday we had our friends over for lunch. We had BBQ pizza. I made a basic pizza dough then let everyone make their own pizzas. The kids had a lot of fun trying out new combinations. We then put the pizzas onto a hot pizza stone in the BBQ and cooked for 7 minutes each with the lid of the BBQ down. All of the pizzas tasted great and we had such a lovely day sitting outside in the warm sunshine.

Garlic and Parmesan cheese for starters.

Basic Pizza Dough
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1 teaspoon caster sugar
1 cup (250ml) lukewarm water
21/2 cups (375g) 00 flour or bread and pizza flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil

Place the yeast, sugar and water in a bowl and mix, set aside for 5 minutes in a warm place or until bubble appear on the surface.
Place flour, salt and olive oil in a bowl, make a well in the centre. Add the yeast mixture and mix all together.
Kneed dough on a lightly floured surface for 3-5 minutes .
Divide the dough into equal parts.
Place on a lightly floured tray under a clean damp cloth for 30 minutes till they have doubled in size.
Press balls into rounds and roll out on a lightly floured surface.
Enjoy

  4. Oh for those lazy, hazy days of summer. We're just settling down to some winter weather and shorter days here in the UK. Your pizzas sound very tasty. Never cooked them on the Barbie before.. Must try next summer.
