Upside-Down Apple Cake




  • Ingredients
  • 2 tbs honey
  • 1 pink lady apple, thinly sliced crossways
  • 125g butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (155g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey, extra
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup (75g) self-raising flour
  • 1/4 cup (40g) plain flour
  • 1/2 cup (55g) almond meal
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/3 cup (80g) sour cream
  • 1 pink lady apple, peeled, cored, finely chopped, extra
  • Natural yoghurt, to serve

  6. I love this cake! We make it in Greece ,too and it's the absolute winter smell in the house. Yours 's looking lovely and the apple slices are impressively thin!I usually make them thick and so the juices come out and make a kind of syrup when baked.

  13. I usually make Dorset Apple cake but I like the effect of those apple slices on your upside down cake. Maybe I can make a cross between the 2!
