Sunday morning we headed down to Parramatta wharf and caught the River Cat into town. It was a warm sunny day just the kind of day to be out and about making the most of our beautiful city. There is always a lots happening down and around Circular Quay.
We stopped in at the Museum of Contemporary Art and had a look around, I don't think it was
Master M's kind of art gallery but I think it's always good to expose your children to all kinds of different things.
After the gallery we walked through the Rocks area.
We walked up to the David Jones Christmas windows and joined the crowds. The Christmas windows feature traditional puppetry that telling the story of 175 years of David Jones history, a landmark at the Elizabeth Street store.
Good thing to see.
It's beginning to look a lot Christmas very where you go in Sydney a tree in every window.
So with very tired feet we headed back to the River-cat for our trip home.
We have now started 8 weeks of summer holidays so lots of good times to come.
Oh what I would do to see those windows!! They sound wonderful with the real puppetry!!! So much beauty in your part of the world!!! A very merry day to you!!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to join you in this tour around Syndey it looks wonderful. It seems so strange to me to see snowmen in the sunshine!

Wow ...great pictures...if only we could have seen more than the airport last week xx
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely photos of Sydney. Did you go to see the Yoko Ono exhibition at the MCA? I really want to go down to Sydney again and see that one. The Rocks is great; I love the history and the archeological site. Looks like a lovely day out with children.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! So much to see and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing sites you saw! Thanks so much for sharing! Enjoy your 8 weeks of summer :-)
ReplyDeleteSydney looks like such a beautiful city. I love seeing any city decked out for the holidays but this one looks particularly nice. I'd love to go someday.
ReplyDeleteOh it looks so wonderful- Definitely a place on my list to go. The photos were lovely:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a special day with lots of wonderful things to see. The part of your blog that sounded the very best to me was "8 weeks of summer holidays" ~ if only...as we head into winter! I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it ~especially enjoying all of your delicious baking :)
ReplyDeleteLooking at store windows was a favorite thing to do as a child. Not many stores go all out nowadays in my area.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a very fun day.
I love looking at the windows of DJs - always so beautifully presented especially for Christmas. I'll miss out this year though, can't picture myself out with the pram braving the crowds in the city.
ReplyDeleteYour city looks wonderful for the holidays! And lucky you to have eight weeks of summer holidays (it still fascinates me that you have summer while I have winter). Happy Holidays

ReplyDeleteOh how lovely to see your photos of Sydney at Christmas. Thank you! I can recognise some of those places from my visit last October. My dream is to spend Christmas in Australia with my family there, but it would probably be Adelaide where most of them live.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a beautiful city - over twenty years ago since I spent time there as a student travelling! Juliex
